Janitorial Specialist

Job Title: Heavy Duty Cleaner

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Heavy Duty Cleaner to join our team at FirstService Residential. As a Heavy Duty Cleaner, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and tidiness of our properties, ensuring a high level of satisfaction for our clients.

Responsibilities:

1. Clean and service restrooms, including sinks, toilets, showers, and mirrors.
2. Sweep, vacuum, and mop floors and stairways, ensuring a safe and clean environment for our clients.
3. Gather and dispose of rubbish and waste materials by hand or using powered equipment.
4. Observe and report any needed repairs, safety hazards, or conditions requiring outside vendor services.
5. Dust surfaces, including blinds, furniture, file cabinets, door frames, railings, picture frames, and windowsills, using treated dust mittens, cloths, or hand-cleaning items.
6. Polish furniture, metalwork, and chrome using appropriate cleaning and polishing compounds.
7. Maintain an inventory of cleaning and toiletry supplies.
8. Wash walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, mirrors, and fixtures using step and extension ladders.
9. Clean grounds and parking lots of litter, glass, or other debris.
10. Load and unload supplies, and move heavy furniture and equipment using dollies, handcarts, or power equipment.
11. Replace light bulbs and fuses.
12. Perform ground maintenance, including snow removal from front entrances and salting of front entrances.
13. Assist in moving garbage bins when needed.
14. Maintain and clean the compactor room.

Requirements:

1. Knowledge of standard methods, practices, tools, and equipment of the janitorial service.
2. Knowledge of the proper use of chemicals, fertilizers, and pesticides.
3. Ability to follow instructions.
4. Ability to operate and use janitorial tools, equipment, and supplies, including floor buffers, vacuum cleaners, and cleaning compounds and solutions.
5. Ability to lift 50 lbs.
6. Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety rules and regulations.
7. Knowledge of building and property security procedures.
8. Ability to explain instructions and guidelines to others effectively.
9. Ability to prioritize work.
