The School District #8 (Kootenay Lake) is seeking a qualified Casual Education Assistant to provide specialized support for students with identified special needs in the Creston area Family of Schools.
Key Responsibilities- Provide support to students with special needs as directed by the Principal.
- Work effectively with students and adults, communicating appropriately with other staff members, students, and parents as directed.
- Be part of a collaborative team, maintaining a professional attitude and confidentiality in working relationships with all school personnel, students, parents, and the public.
- Work as part of school-based planning teams as required.
- Dispense approved medications as prescribed by the student's doctor, if required.
- Work with non-compliant students in a non-confrontational manner.
- Participate in training in non-violent crisis intervention.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
- College of the Rockies SPEDA course or equivalent college program recognized by other School Districts in the Province.
- Ability to work effectively with students and adults.
- Ability to communicate appropriately with other staff members, students, and parents as directed.
- Ability to be part of a collaborative team, maintaining a professional attitude and confidentiality in working relationships with all school personnel, students, parents, and the public.
- Ability to work as part of school-based planning teams as required.
