Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly qualified English Language Arts and Literacy Educator to join our team at the York Region District School Board. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching English Language Arts and Literacy to students in a dynamic and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities
  • Assess student progress and adjust instruction to meet individual needs
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement curriculum
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure a positive and supportive learning environment
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices in English Language Arts and Literacy education

Requirements:

  • Valid Ontario teaching certification
  • Experience teaching English Language Arts and Literacy to students in grades 4-8
  • Strong knowledge of curriculum and assessment practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with differentiated instruction and inclusive practices
  • Knowledge of Fountas & Pinnell Benchmark Assessment System and Lively Letters
  • Experience working with students from diverse cultural backgrounds
