About the Position

The Senior Financial Analyst will be an integral member of the Finance and Operations Team (FinOps) and will play a significant role in fund operations, financial reporting, and audit support for the funds managed by Hazelview Investments.

  • Responsibilities:
  1. Financial Reporting and Accounting:
  2. Prepare/review daily or monthly NAVs, including review of financial information and NAV reports prepared by fund administrators, property managers, and general partners.
  3. Prepare/review supporting information for legal entity-level transactions, provide details to fund administrators, and ensure transactions are accurately reflected in the relevant accounting system(s).
  4. Prepare/review financial statements, MRFP, fund reporting, and related supporting working papers for investment funds/vehicles, including private and public funds with investments in direct real estate, private equity, publicly traded securities, and private debt.
  5. Lead/assist in completing year-end audit and tax compliance, including preparation of audit and tax working papers and monitoring audit progress.
  6. Fund Operations:
  7. Provide oversight of third-party administrators and other key service providers.
  8. Review net asset value calculations prepared by administrators and present NAVs for partner approval.
  9. Review inbound and outbound capital calls, distributions, and redemptions.
  10. Prepare valuation support for private investments and/or private debt.
  11. Identify and address issues with external general partner and property manager reports.
  12. Prepare debt covenant calculations for various mortgage/credit facilities and assist with credit maintenance.
  13. Review bank, trust, and other account reconciliations.
  14. Review accruals and the coding of fund level supplier invoices.
  15. Assist with onboarding, deal support, reporting, process initiatives, and projects as assigned.
  16. Maintain up-to-date written processes and procedures.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you must have:

  • An undergraduate degree in Business, Accounting, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of public accounting experience (investment funds), fund accounting, or property accounting experience.
  • Advanced skills in Excel and Word.
  • Experience with Yardi, including Voyager, Investment Accounting, Job Cost, and Construction Management modules.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, adapt quickly, prioritize, and manage concurrent processes and reporting requirements while meeting tight deadlines.
