Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer for Cloud Infrastructure to join our team at Royal Bank of Canada. This is a full-time position in our Technology and Operations division, where you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and supporting our cloud infrastructure.

About the Opportunity

In this role, you will be responsible for developing, coding, testing, and debugging new software or making significant improvements to existing software. You must be self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and support our cloud infrastructure using AWS and Azure.
  • Develop, code, test, and debug new software or make significant improvements to existing software.
  • Work collaboratively with internal application development teams.
  • Ensure the security, scalability, and reliability of our cloud infrastructure.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 2+ years of experience in Hadoop, Spark, and Java/Scala.
  • 4-5 years of experience in Java and Spring Framework.
  • 1-2 years of working in Cloud environments - AWS, Azure.
  • Some programming experience in Python (1-2 years).
  • Working knowledge of Jenkins CI, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders - business and technical.
  • Self-motivated, independent thinker.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in building end-to-end data pipelines on AWS/Azure and/or Databricks.
  • Proven hands-on experience in containerization - Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, etc.
  • Knowledge in Market Risk/Capital Markets/Banking.
