About the Role
The Fleet Maintenance Assistant Manager will play a crucial role in overseeing the management and maintenance of American Iron & Metal's mobile assets, including vehicles, equipment, and other resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Directly manage shift supervisors, mechanics, and administrative staff within the department – Approximately 24 employees
- Communicate with schedulers to manage the flow and productivity of the shop ensuring that production needs and goals are met
- Ensure all equipment is maintained to the highest level of safety standards including assessing equipment on a quarterly basis for long-term maintenance requirements
- Set goals for safety and work with the H&S team to ensure those goals are fulfilled
- Manage costs and work towards continuous improvement on internal and external costs for asset maintenance
- Maintain AIM maintenance plans while considering market priorities for equipment
- Conduct performance reviews
- Provide input on vehicle specifications
Requirements
- Licensed 310T
- Minimum of 3 years experience in a management or supervisor position
- Strong understanding of current trucks and trailers on the road
- Strong multitasker and communicator
- Ability to understand, manage, and process invoices
- Fleet knowledge and experience
- Experience in fleet maintenance including Kenworth trucks is preferred
- Knowledge of hydraulics as well as industrial lifting equipment
- Understanding of CVOR requirements and relevant legislation
- Willingness to travel if required
