Custodian (Casual) Job Description

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Custodian to support the daily maintenance and operations of our elementary and secondary schools in Huron and Perth counties.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform building maintenance tasks, including changing lights, shoveling snow, and cleaning roofs.
  • Operate and maintain equipment, such as grass cutting equipment and snow blowers.
  • Conduct health and safety checks and perform minor repairs.
  • Assist with building cleaning, including operating and maintaining cleaning equipment.
Requirements:
  • Grade 12 diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb stairs, ladders, and scaffolding.
  • Mechanical aptitude with experience in one or more trade disciplines, such as plumbing, electrical, or carpentry.
  • Excellent interpersonal, professional, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to use a computer and experience with Google Suite and other software.
  • Experience handling machinery and knowledge of proper usage of hazardous chemicals and cleaning supplies.
Working Conditions:

This is a casual position with a call-in basis, Monday to Friday, typically afternoon shift, with summer hours in July and August.

Daily rate: $20.31 per hour + vacation pay. Long-term assignment rate: $20.31 per hour + vacation pay.
