We are seeking a Yard Planner within our Deltaport Yard Planning Department, represented by ILWU Local 502.

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for allocating containers arriving at the terminal via truck, rail, or vessel, collaborating with other departments using a Terminal Operating System and required tools to maximize productivity and customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Allocate empty containers from rail, truck, and vessel sources.
  • Manage export and import loads from rail, gate, and vessel operations.
  • Plan traffic flow between rail, yard, vessel, and gate to minimize congestion and optimize efficiency.
  • Maximize space in the terminal through consolidation efforts.
  • Accurately input container data according to vessel requirements, good order, and damage assessments.
  • Ensure effective inter-departmental communication.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma required; Logistics, Transportation, or Shipping diploma preferred.
  • Two years of relevant work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow procedures with attention to detail.
  • Able to work independently.
  • Sound analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Organizational skills, including multi-tasking, prioritization, and meeting deadlines under pressure.
  • Sound verbal communication skills, including phone handling and conflict resolution.
  • Courteous, professional demeanor when interacting with internal and external contacts and customers.
  • Ability to keyboard at an intermediate level.
  • Familiarity with software applications supporting operations activities, including MS Office suite.
  • Knowledge of yard and marine terminal operations an asset.

Compensation and Benefits:

The estimated annual salary range for this position is $60,000-$80,000, depending on qualifications and experience. Comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, and pension plans, are also available.
