Job Description

What will you do?

  • Enable tracking of cloud and virtual inventory to ensure accurate configuration management.
  • Manage and improve ServiceNow Discovery to enhance the maturity of the Configuration Management Database.
  • Provide governance to ensure the integrity of the CMDB and translate business requirements into technical enhancements.
  • Define configuration items and classes, their attributes, data collection, and governance to support other ITSM modules and business objectives.
  • Build and support integrations with data sources other than ServiceNow Discovery to expand the scope of configuration management.
  • Setup and administration of MID servers to ensure seamless data collection.
  • Add, update, or remove Discovery credentials to maintain data accuracy.
  • Create, update, or remove Discovery ranges and schedules to optimize data collection.
  • Monitor CMDB health and resolve conflicts between data sources to ensure data integrity.
  • Interpret Discovery logs and data to diagnose issues and improve configuration management.
  • Define identification and reconciliation rules to ensure accurate configuration management.
  • Create, update, or remove identification and reconciliation rules to maintain data accuracy.
  • Produce management information, including KPIs and status reports, to inform operational and management decisions.
  • Identify opportunities to revert from customizations to OOTB functions during platform upgrades to maintain configuration management integrity.

What will you need to succeed?

  • Broad general knowledge of IT infrastructure topology, including typical application, server, and networking configurations, and how they can be documented using a common data model.
  • Experience with ServiceNow Discovery, with a minimum of 2 years.
  • Expertise and experience with ServiceNow ITOM products, including Discovery, Service Graph framework, Service Mapping, and Configuration Management.
  • Strong ITIL knowledge, with the ability to relate concepts to implementation strategies (Asset, Config, Change, Problem, Incident, Release).
  • Expertise with scripting languages, such as PERL, JavaScript, Python, or PowerShell.
  • Thorough understanding of Software Asset Management (SAM) module.
  • Experience creating new patterns and enhancing/modifying existing patterns in ServiceNow.
