Project Accountant Job Description

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Accountant to join our team at EllisDon. As a Project Accountant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the financial success of our projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and understand project-related contracts and subcontractor documentation to ensure project setup procedures align with contract terms and conditions.
  • Collect, reconcile, and process all project-related subcontractor payments, general expenditures, internal hourly payroll costing allocations, and other financial transactions in a timely and accurate manner to meet contract payment terms.
  • Assemble client billing packages in accordance with approval procedures and processes to ensure timely client billing and payment receipt in accordance with contract terms and conditions.
  • Maintain accurate and timely cash flow data, both current and forecasted, compared to projected cash flow assumed in the financial model (as applicable to the project).
  • Assist the Project Manager in preparing monthly reports for owner/consultant and internal reporting.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration/Finance along with 3-6 years of relevant accounting experience, or an equivalent combination of technical training and experience.
  • Ability to correctly identify financial situations and produce logical solutions to support a project team/business area.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills, as well as a keen willingness to work independently and on-site at project locations.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage tight deadlines.
  • Related experience working in a construction environment would be an asset.
