Project Accountant Job Description

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Accountant to join our team at EllisDon. As a Project Accountant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the financial success of our projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Management: You will be responsible for reading and understanding project-related contracts and subcontractor documentation to ensure project setup procedures are aligned with contract terms and conditions.
  • Payment Processing: You will collect, reconcile, seek approval, and process all project-related subcontractor payments, general expenditures, internal hourly payroll costing allocations, and other financial transactions in a timely and accurate manner to meet all contract payment terms.
  • Client Billing: You will assemble client billing packages in accordance with approval procedures and processes to ensure clients receive billings on a timely basis and payments are received as per contract terms and conditions.
  • Cash Flow Management: You will maintain accurate and timely cash flow data, both current and forecasted, as compared to projected cash flow assumed in the financial model (as applicable to the project).
  • Reporting: You will assist the Project Manager in preparing monthly reports for owner/consultant and internal reporting.
Requirements:
  • Education: You have post-secondary education in Business Administration/Finance along with 3-6 years of relevant accounting experience, or an equivalent combination of technical training and experience.
  • Skills: You have the ability to correctly identify financial situations and produce logical solutions to support a project team/business area. You demonstrate strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills, as well as a keen willingness to work independently and on-site at project locations.
  • Experience: Related experience working in a construction environment would be an asset.
