Process Safety Engineer

Join Cenovus Energy Inc. as a Process Safety Engineer and contribute to the development of a driven, collaborative team completing important projects while receiving mentorship, knowledge, and experience to build an exciting career.

As a Process Safety Engineer, you will be part of a multi-discipline program with meaningful, hands-on work experience, networking events, and a wide support network. You will perform daily safety procedure audits and inspections, assist in the delivery of Contractor Safety Training, and support Process Safety Management including PSI, PHA, MOC, auditing, and drawing updates.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Performing daily safety procedure audits and inspections as needed
  • Assisting in the delivery of Contractor Safety Training
  • Supporting Process Safety Management including PSI, PHA, MOC, auditing, and drawing updates
  • Engaging with field personnel to understand operational challenges, provide support, and reinforce a strong safety culture
  • Fostering positive and constructive interactions with field personnel to encourage reporting of safety concerns and ensure effective communication

Requirements include:

  • Availability to begin work on or around May 5th, 2025
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States - sponsorship for this role will not be provided
  • Previous experience is considered an asset
  • Strong attitude for carrying out all work in a safe, cautious manner while following safe work practices
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Education requirements include:

  • Must be enrolled in a Chemical Engineering or Engineering Undergraduate Program at an accredited post-secondary institution at the time of intended work term and returning to full-time studies after the work term OR registered in an accredited post-secondary co-op or internship program for the duration of the work term
  • Candidates currently enrolled in either a master's or Ph.D. program at an accredited post-secondary institution may also be considered

Working conditions may include frequency of travel, sitting, standing, computer work, lifting, driving, and working at site.

This is a safety-sensitive role, and as such, you will be required to wear all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during required work hours. You will also be required to pass the Cenovus pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol assessment requirements.

Students moving for their work term may be eligible to receive a lump sum payment to assist with relocation expenses.
