Music Therapist

We are seeking a skilled Music Therapist to join our team at West Coast Seniors Housing Management. As a Music Therapist, you will design and participate in programs to help our residents improve their mental and physical health through the creative use of music.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with residents and care staff to create a music therapy program based on individual needs and interests.
- Direct and participate in instrumental, vocal, and listening music activities.
- Instruct residents on the use of instruments and vocal techniques.
- Encourage participation and expression through non-verbal communication.
- Work with care staff to ensure residents are engaged and provide feedback to make adjustments as needed.
- Review and assess therapy sessions to monitor effectiveness and resident interest levels.
- Provide guidance and instruction to staff who help with execution of music therapy programs.
- Maintain accurate records and evaluate client progress.
- Participate in the selection and purchase of necessary materials.
- Prepare updates to discuss in care conferences.
- Maintain a safe environment for residents, family, and staff.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor degree in Music Therapy and at least 1 year of experience preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Music Therapist-Board Certified.
- Comfortable working with seniors.
- Good physical and mental health to meet the demands of the position.
- Experience programming for Alzheimer Disease and related Dementias is an asset.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently and understand verbal and written instructions.
- Good interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Basic computer skills including Word, Publisher, and Outlook.
