About the Music Therapist Role

At West Coast Seniors Housing Management, we strive to create a supportive and engaging work environment for our staff and residents. As a Music Therapist, you will play a vital role in designing and participating in programs that promote mental and physical health through the creative use of music.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the recreation team to develop and implement music therapy programs tailored to the needs and interests of our residents.
  • Meet with residents and care staff to create personalized music therapy plans.
  • Direct and participate in instrumental, vocal, and listening music activities.
  • Provide instruction and guidance to staff on the execution of music therapy programs.
  • Monitor and assess therapy sessions to ensure effectiveness and resident engagement.
  • Maintain accurate records and evaluate client progress.
  • Participate in the selection and purchase of necessary materials.
  • Prepare updates for care conferences and maintain a safe environment for residents, family, and staff.

Qualifications & Skills
  • Bachelor degree in Music Therapy and at least 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Music Therapist-Board Certified.
  • Comfortable working with seniors and possessing good physical and mental health.
  • Experience programming for Alzheimer's Disease and related Dementias is an asset.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently and understand verbal and written instructions.
  • Good interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Basic computer skills including Word, Publisher, and Outlook.
