Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Laboratory Assistant II to join our team at Northern Health Authority. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing specimen collection, preparation, and testing, as well as providing clerical and laboratory support functions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform specimen collection, preparation, and testing under the supervision of the Chief Technologist or designate.
  • Conduct inpatient and/or outpatient Electro Cardiogram (ECG) testing, and/or Holter monitor testing as required.
  • Explain test procedures to patients and provide excellent customer service.
  • Perform routine equipment cleaning and maintenance to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
Requirements
  • Grade 12, successful completion of a recognized Lab Assistant training program, and one (1) year's recent, related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively and work in a team environment.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work and operate related equipment.
  • Ability to type at 25 wpm.
