Medical Laboratory Assistant II Specialist

As a Laboratory Assistant II at Northern Health, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care by performing specimen collection, preparation, and testing. You will work under the supervision of the Chief Technologist or designate, utilizing your excellent communication skills to explain test procedures to patients.
Responsibilities
• Perform inpatient and/or outpatient Electro Cardiogram (ECG) testing, and/or Holter monitor testing as required
• Prepare and test laboratory specimens for analysis
• Perform routine equipment cleaning and maintenance
Requirements
• Grade 12, successful completion of a recognized Lab Assistant training program plus one (1) year's recent, related experience
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
• Ability to deal with others effectively
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
