Role Overview

As a Backend API Engineering Team Lead at Myant Inc., you will be responsible for leading a team of software engineers in designing, developing, and deploying scalable and efficient APIs using FastAPI. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to define API requirements, integrate with frontend and other backend services, and implement CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership & Team Management:
    • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of software engineers specializing in backend API development.
    • Foster a collaborative and innovative engineering culture, promoting best practices and continuous improvement.
    • Set clear goals and performance expectations for the team, and conduct regular performance reviews.
  • Backend API Development:
    • Oversee the design, development, and deployment of scalable and efficient APIs using FastAPI.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define API requirements and integrate with frontend and other backend services.
  • CI/CD & DevOps:
    • Implement and optimize CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions to streamline development and deployment processes.
    • Manage and configure Kubernetes clusters to ensure smooth and scalable application deployments.
  • Software Architecture:
    • Design and review software architecture to ensure it meets scalability, reliability, and performance standards.
    • Provide technical leadership in architectural decisions and guide the team in implementing best practices.
  • Project Management:
    • Work closely with product managers and other stakeholders to define project scope, timelines, and deliverables.
    • Manage project priorities, resource allocation, and risk assessment to ensure successful project delivery.
    • Monitor progress and provide regular updates to senior management on project status and potential issues.
What We Offer

At Myant Inc., we offer a competitive salary range of $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on experience. We also provide a comprehensive benefits package, including employee stock options, paid sick days and floating days, group health insurance plan, RRSP matching plan, and corporate events.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 2 years in a management or leadership role.
  • Extensive knowledge of software architecture principles and best practices.
  • Proficiency in designing and implementing scalable, high-performance backend systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Knowledge of additional programming languages or technologies relevant to backend development.
