Software Engineering Manager for Scalable Backend Systems

We're seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead our backend API development efforts, focusing on Python's FastAPI and CI/CD with Kubernetes and GitHub Actions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software architecture, a proven track record of managing high-performing engineering teams, and a passion for creating scalable and efficient backend systems.
Responsibilities:- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of software engineers specializing in backend API development.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative engineering culture, promoting best practices and continuous improvement.
- Set clear goals and performance expectations for the team, and conduct regular performance reviews.
- Oversee the design, development, and deployment of scalable and efficient APIs using FastAPI.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define API requirements and integrate with frontend and other backend services.
- Implement and optimize CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions to streamline development and deployment processes.
- Manage and configure Kubernetes clusters to ensure smooth and scalable application deployments.
- Design and review software architecture to ensure it meets scalability, reliability, and performance standards.
- Provide technical leadership in architectural decisions and guide the team in implementing best practices.
- Work closely with product managers and other stakeholders to define project scope, timelines, and deliverables.
- Manage project priorities, resource allocation, and risk assessment to ensure successful project delivery.
- Monitor progress and provide regular updates to senior management on project status and potential issues.
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 2 years in a management or leadership role.
- Extensive knowledge of software architecture principles and best practices.
- Proficiency in designing and implementing scalable, high-performance backend systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Knowledge of additional programming languages or technologies relevant to backend development.
