GFL Environmental is a leading provider of environmental services, and we are seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Equipment Technician to join our team in a challenging and rewarding role.

As a Heavy Duty Equipment Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our fleet of trucks and equipment. Your expertise will be essential in maintaining the reliability and efficiency of our vehicles, which are crucial to our business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance and repair of diesel, CNG, gas, and electrically operated trucks and associated heavy-duty equipment
  • Using various power tools, hand instruments, and cutting-edge equipment to diagnose and repair complex mechanical issues
  • Completing daily reports, work orders, and ordering necessary parts to ensure timely and efficient repairs
  • Planning and scheduling repairs in M5 planner and procuring parts to minimize downtime
  • Assisting in the review of mechanical write-ups and coordinating repair schedules to ensure seamless operations

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED); technical diploma desired
  • At least 1 year of experience as a Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic
  • Relevant criteria for safety-sensitive functions according to Company standards
  • The ability to follow detailed instructions, work independently, and maintain accurate records
  • A willingness to operate any vehicle or equipment necessary to perform the job
  • The physical ability to exert effort, including pushing, pulling, bending, and lifting items up to 100 lbs.
  • Fine motor coordination with arm, hand, finger, and leg dexterity
  • The ability to kneel, crawl, and climb
