Job Title: Middle School Teacher

Job Summary:

We are seeking a qualified Middle School Teacher to join our team at Yellowknife Catholic Schools. As a Middle School Teacher, you will be responsible for creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment that fosters academic excellence and personal growth for our students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to the diverse needs of our students
  • Assess student progress and adjust instruction to meet individual needs
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan and deliver curriculum
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to ensure a positive and productive learning environment
  • Stay up-to-date with curriculum developments and best practices in education

Requirements:

  • Must hold, or be eligible for, a NWT Teaching Certificate
  • Bachelor of Education Degree
  • Preference will be given to those with experience teaching middle school (Grade 5-7)
  • Preference will be given to those with experience/education in some or all of the following:
    • Literacy, numeracy, differentiated instruction, and authentic assessment
    • Understanding of how to integrate spirituality and faith into teaching practices
    • Knowledge of, and experience in the effective use of technology as a learning tool
    • Experience teaching in a northern community and an understanding of Indigenous cultures
  • A vulnerable sector check is a requirement

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of an effective school team
  • Organizational skills, initiative, and a strong team focus
