Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Middle School Teacher to join our team at Yellowknife Catholic Schools. As a Middle School Teacher, you will be responsible for creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment that fosters academic excellence and spiritual growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to the diverse needs of students
  • Assess student progress and adjust instruction to meet individual needs
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan and deliver programs that promote literacy, numeracy, and differentiated instruction
  • Integrate spirituality and faith into teaching practices, promoting a deeper understanding of Catholic values
  • Utilize technology as a learning tool to enhance student engagement and outcomes
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
Requirements
  • Must hold, or be eligible for, a NWT Teaching Certificate
  • Bachelor of Education Degree
  • Preference given to those with experience teaching middle school (Grade 5-7)
  • Preference given to those with experience/education in literacy, numeracy, differentiated instruction, and authentic assessment
  • Understanding of how to integrate spirituality and faith into teaching practices
  • Knowledge of, and experience in, the effective use of technology as a learning tool
  • Experience teaching in a northern community and an understanding of Indigenous cultures an asset
  • Vulnerable sector check required
Working Conditions

This is a full-time position that requires a strong team focus, organizational skills, and initiative. The successful candidate will be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
