Job Title: Retail Store Owner

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Retail Store Owner to join our team at KAMLOOPS HALAL FOOD INC.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our retail store, including managing staff, planning and organizing daily operations, and developing and implementing marketing strategies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate daily operations and make informed decisions to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Plan and organize daily operations, including managing staff and assigning duties.
  • Manage staff and assign duties, ensuring that all tasks are completed to a high standard.
  • Study market research and trends to determine consumer demand and potential sales volumes.
  • Determine merchandise and services to be sold, ensuring that they meet the needs of our customers.
  • Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote our products and services.
  • Plan budgets and monitor revenues and expenses, ensuring that the store is financially sustainable.
  • Determine staffing requirements and recruit, hire, and supervise staff and/or volunteers.
  • Provide physical accessibility accommodations, including ramps, elevators, and accessible parking.
  • Provide visual accessibility accommodations, including braille, screen readers, and transcription software.
  • Provide auditory accessibility accommodations, including transcription software and teletypewriters.
  • Participate in government or community programs that support persons with disabilities.
  • Offer mentorship, coaching, and/or networking opportunities for persons with disabilities.
  • Provide awareness training to employees to create a welcoming work environment for persons with disabilities.
  • Apply accessible and inclusive recruitment policies that accommodate persons with disabilities.
  • Participate in government or community programs that support newcomers and/or refugees.
  • Assist with immediate settlement needs of newcomers and/or refugees, including housing, transportation, and storage.
  • Support social and labour market integration of newcomers and/or refugees, including facilitating access to community resources, language training, and skills training.
  • Recruit newcomers and/or refugees who were displaced by a conflict or a natural disaster.
  • Support newcomers and/or refugees with foreign credential recognition.
  • Offer mentorship programs that pair newcomers and/or refugees with experienced employees.
  • Provide diversity and cross-cultural training to create a welcoming work environment for newcomers and/or refugees.
  • Participate in government or community programs that support youth employment.
  • Offer on-the-job training tailored to youth.
  • Offer mentorship, coaching, and/or networking opportunities for youth.
  • Provide awareness training to employees to create a welcoming work environment for youth.
  • Participate in government or community programs that support Veterans.
  • Offer mentorship, coaching, and/or networking opportunities for Veterans.
  • Provide awareness training to employees to create a welcoming work environment for Veterans.
  • Recruit Veterans and other candidates with military experience through targeted hiring initiatives.
  • Assist with immediate transition needs of Veterans, including relocation and housing.
  • Offer workshops, counselling services, or other resources to help Veterans navigate their transition into the civilian workforce.
  • Support Veterans in translating their military skills and experience into the language of the civilian job market.
  • Offer flexible onboarding options to allow Veterans to gradually adapt to the civilian workplace.
  • Participate in government or community programs that support Indigenous people.
  • Offer mentorship, coaching, and/or networking opportunities for Indigenous workers.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with indigenous communities, indigenous-owned businesses, and organizations.
  • Provide cultural competency training and/or awareness training to all employees to create a welcoming work environment for Indigenous workers.
  • Facilitate access to Elders who can offer support and guidance to Indigenous workers.
  • Participate in government or community programs that support mature workers.
  • Apply hiring policies that discourage age discrimination.
  • Provide staff with awareness training to create a welcoming work environment for mature workers.
  • Offer mentorship, coaching, and/or networking opportunities for mature workers.
  • Offer phased retirement options that allow mature workers to gradually reduce their workload.
  • Offer phased re-entry options for mature workers who are returning to work after retiring.

  • Apply hiring policies that discourage discrimination against members of visible minorities.
  • Offer mentorship programs that pair members of visible minorities with experienced employees.
