About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Control Systems Engineer to join our team at Rychiger Canada Inc. in Toronto. As a key member of our engineering team, you will play a crucial part in the design, development, and implementation of electrical control systems for our projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Requirements Assessment: Collaborate with Project Managers and Mechanical Engineers to review client specifications and drawings, and assess project requirements.
  • Testing Procedures: Outline and perform testing procedures based on project requirements, adhering to safety requirements and highlighting safety guidelines for the project team.
  • Client Site Visits: Visit client sites with Project Managers to understand how new requirements will interact with existing products.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with Project Managers, Head of Engineering, Mechanical Engineers, and Designers to determine the most efficient and cost-effective method of constructing products.
  • Project Management: Follow and meet project roadmaps and milestones to ensure projects are delivered to clients within agreed-upon deadlines.
  • Problem-Solving: Address problems and potential problems with the Head of Engineering, along with potential solutions and options.
  • Material Research: Research and identify suitable and cost-effective materials required to meet project requirements, and bring forward the Bill of Material (BOM) to the Manager for approval.
  • Supplier Liaison: Liaise with suppliers to gather information regarding materials or explore alternative options that are more cost-effective or suitable for achieving product functionality requirements.
  • Drawing and Documentation: Draft electrical schematics drawings to capture all elements and material requirements, and review drawings with the Project Lead to confirm all aspects of the project have been included for the Manager's approval.
  • Client Feedback: Collaborate with the Project Lead to update drawings to reflect client feedback, and resubmit drawings for client approval once approved.
  • Team Communication: Communicate instructions to the Technician Team in a clear and concise manner, providing additional clarification throughout the assembly process when needed.
  • Controls Programming: Develop controls programs for machine/product logic control, PLC, HMI, PC, and other auxiliary components.
  • Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot production and testing issues related to product functionality and material.
  • Sales Support: Support the sales team for sales meetings with current and/or potential clients, in line with other responsibilities.
  • Installation and Support: Participate in the installation of products on client sites, troubleshooting and addressing electrical issues/concerns during and after installation.
  • Knowledge and Compliance: Familiarize and maintain up-to-date knowledge of local safety and electrical standards, and adhere to all company policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • Certifications: Certifications in PLC programming, HMI development, or other relevant areas would be beneficial.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience: Three to five years of experience in a similar position and industry.
  • Software and Hardware: Demonstrated experience using Office Suite, Electrical Design Software.
  • Electrical Engineering Fundamentals: Demonstrated knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals, design principles, and codes.
  • Automation Experience: Experience in developing and designing packaging machinery, robotic-based automation cells, conveyor systems (bonus).
  • Project Management: Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Quality and Attention to Detail: Excellent attention to quality, accuracy, and detail-oriented.
  • Communication and Teamwork: Solid verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to understand and translate complex technical information into easy-to-read user documents.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills to build collaborative relationships with others, coupled with demonstrated experience of being a team player.
  • Travel: Able to travel to client sites.
