About the Role:

Industrial Light & Magic is seeking a talented R&D Engineer to join our team in Vancouver. As a key member of our Research and Development group, you will be responsible for developing innovative algorithms, crafting artist-friendly user interfaces, and optimizing data management processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing software tools and techniques for visual effects and feature animation production
  • Collaborating with engineers across all ILM studios to develop and deploy machine-learning-based tools
  • Working with commercial software vendors to develop and deploy new tools and technologies

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in C++ and Python on Linux
  • Knowledge of visual effects principles and/or eagerness to learn
  • Experience with Maya, Houdini, Katana, Mari, or other commercial software applications
  • Experience with machine learning techniques, processes, and toolsets
  • Working knowledge of standard data formats: OpenEXR, OpenVDB, Alembic, USD, etc.

What We Offer:

ILM offers a competitive salary range of C$153,600 to C$196,700 per year, as well as a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits.
