Job Title: Secretary-Treasurer

Join our team as a key member of the district's Executive Team, responsible for leading the district's financial and business operations. As the Chief Financial Officer, you will oversee the management of complex budgets, ensure fiscal responsibility, and provide strategic financial planning to support the district's goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the district's financial planning and budgeting processes, ensuring alignment with the district's strategic plan and goals.
  • Oversee the management of the district's finances, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Develop and implement effective financial and administrative systems to support the district's operations.
  • Provide strategic guidance and support to the Superintendent and the Board of Education on financial and business matters.
  • Represent the district on local, regional, and provincial networks, building relationships with external partners and stakeholders.
Requirements:
  • Significant track record of successful experience in a senior financial role in the public sector, preferably in the education sector.
  • Demonstrated and sustained success in leading and supervising staff in a unionized environment.
  • Chartered Professional Accounting designation in good standing, or related degree with recent and relevant experience.
  • Highly effective experience working with an elected Board and extensive experience with public sector accounting standards, budgeting, financial reporting, auditing, risk management, and internal controls.
