POSITION: Health, Safety, and Environmental Specialist

Location: Industry

We are looking for a detail-oriented and organized individual to join our team as a Health, Safety, and Environmental Specialist.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure training matrix is up to date and support supervisors in providing training.
  • Update employee STOP card and Field Level Risk Assessment inputs and compliance.
  • Liaise with plant staff on health, safety, and environmental issues.
  • Assist in overseeing contractors and activities during on-site projects to ensure compliance.
  • Check daily Work Permits as required.
  • Meet and update with the site HSE Specialist on a daily basis.
  • Update and monitor Corporate and Site Pandemic procedures and compliance.
  • Print and mark HSE testing and update records.
  • Weekly and monthly checks on safety equipment.
  • Other site duties assigned by the HSE Specialist.

Qualifications, Skills, and Education:

  • Must be enrolled in a recognized post-secondary Co-op education program in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Environmental Science.
  • Strong interest in health and safety and/or environmental studies.
  • Excellent organization and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to establish priorities and work effectively in a team.
  • Strong technical writing skills.
  • Commitment to the Health and Safety and the Environment.

Experience:

  • Knowledge of health, safety, and/or environmental legislation is an asset.
  • Prior experience in an industrial manufacturing environment would be an asset.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety and environmental legislation and engineering documents.
  • Excellent working knowledge of tools like MS Office, SharePoint, etc.

Hours/Days/Schedule:

Hours of work will be primarily Monday through Friday (40 hours, day shift).
