Job Summary

Thewaternetwork is seeking an Environmental Specialist - Water Quality Expert to join our team. This role plays a pivotal part in protecting Alberta's lotic systems amidst industrial development, climate change, and population growth.

About the Role

We are dedicated to safeguarding Alberta's natural resources and ecosystems while balancing environmental and economic needs. As the OSM Watershed Scientist, you will develop and improve long-term water quality monitoring and research programs for Alberta's lotic systems.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and Improve Monitoring Programs: Create and enhance long-term water quality monitoring and research projects aligned with best practices and safety standards.
  2. Analyze and Synthesize Data: Analyze and synthesize environmental data for publication in peer-reviewed journals, technical reports, and state-of-the-environment assessments.
  3. Collaborate with Stakeholders: Collaborate with Indigenous communities, government agencies, industry, and academic stakeholders to integrate scientific knowledge and practices.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years of post-doctoral or equivalent work experience in designing and implementing water research and monitoring programs.
  • Experience in analyzing and reporting large environmental datasets.
  • Publishing primary and collaborative peer-reviewed scientific research.
Benefits
