The Royal Mental Health Centre is currently seeking a skilled Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to join our team. As a leading provider of mental health care and academic health science, we are dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care and promoting recovery through specialized mental health services. Our team of professionals works collaboratively to provide assessment, treatment, and support to individuals with mental illnesses, ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment for all clients. This role will involve providing supportive nursing care consistent with patient treatment and rehabilitation needs, while also assisting in the assessment of patients' needs and developing individualized care plans in collaboration with the inter-disciplinary team. The ideal candidate will possess a sound knowledge of clinical issues in mental health and addiction, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide supportive nursing care to patients with mental health and addiction issues.
  • Assist in the assessment of patients' needs and develop individualized care plans.
  • Collaborate with the inter-disciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care and support for clients.
  • Provide a safe and therapeutic environment, including crisis management and emergency nursing care.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of a recognized Diploma Program in Practical Nursing.
  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Previous nursing experience working in psychiatric/mental health specialization is preferred.
  • Certified in CPR and First Aid.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Health Care Consent Act, and Substitute Decision Act.
  • Safety and Security in the Workplace Training (candidate must agree to complete prior to start date if this qualification is not met).
  • Valid drivers' license, if required.
  • English level A- is mandatory in oral expression, oral comprehension, reading comprehension, and written expression. Bilingual is an asset.

Salary Range: $35.36 to $37.05 per hour
