We are currently seeking an Intermediate Geochemist to be based out of our Vancouver, B.C. office. This role offers the opportunity to work on mining engineering and environmental projects from conceptual design to final construction, collaborating with world-class engineers and scientists.
The successful candidate will have relevant geochemical experience and knowledge in areas such as Acid Rock Drainage, Metal Leaching potential, and water quality assessments. A science or engineering degree from an accredited university is required, along with experience with applicable federal and provincial regulations and guidelines.
This position may involve occasional travel to remote locations, and the ability to prepare technical reports in English is essential. The salary range for this position is estimated to be $85K to $120K per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing and directing all project phases from project definition to proposal writing, data collection, and fieldwork.
- Contributing to existing projects with respect to geochemistry components, including sampling and geochemical characterization of rocks and water quality assessment.
- Conducting geochemical and hydro-chemical fieldwork, data management, QA/QC, data manipulation, and geochemical modelling using speciation and mass transport codes.
- Mentoring and training junior scientific staff and technicians.
Qualifications:
- Relevant geochemical experience and knowledge in areas such as Acid Rock Drainage, Metal Leaching potential, and water quality assessments.
- A science or engineering degree from an accredited university in geoscience, environmental science, or related field.
- Experience with applicable federal and provincial regulations and guidelines, preferably with a working knowledge of BC, Yukon, Nunavut, and Northwest Territories mine permitting processes.
- Knowledge and experience with geochemical modelling software such as PHREEQC, Geochemist's Workbench, etc.
- Ability to prepare pragmatic, defensible technical reports in English and communicate effectively with members of regulatory bodies, industry, special interest groups, and First Nations.
- Willingness to travel domestically and occasionally to remote locations.
