Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Truck Driver to join our team at Peoples Trucking Ltd. As a key member of our logistics operations, you will be responsible for safely transporting goods and materials across various locations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Load and Unload Goods: Ensure efficient loading and unloading of goods, adhering to safety protocols and regulations.
  • Operate and Drive Trucks: Safely operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials, adhering to traffic laws and regulations.
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Regularly inspect and maintain the condition of the vehicle, including tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, and other equipment.
  • Emergency Roadside Repairs: Perform emergency roadside repairs to ensure minimal downtime and maintain schedule integrity.
  • Pre-Trip, En Route, and Post-Trip Inspections: Conduct thorough pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with regulations.
  • Communication and Record-Keeping: Receive and relay information to central dispatch, record cargo information, hours of service, distance traveled, and fuel consumption.
  • Cargo Security: Ensure the safety and security of cargo through proper tarping and handling.
Requirements
  • Certifications and Licenses: Possess an Air Brake (Z) Endorsement and a valid Driver's License (Class 1 or A).
  • Documentation Knowledge: Familiarity with accident or incident reports, driver logbooks, inspection reports, maintenance and repair reports, and trip reports.
  • Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Ability to handle heavy loads, work in physically demanding environments, and sit for extended periods.
  • Weight Handling: Capable of lifting up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
  • Personal Suitability: Possess strong judgment, organizational skills, reliability, and teamwork abilities.
Work Environment

This is a permanent position with a 40-hour workweek. The work environment is dynamic, and the successful candidate will be required to work in a team-oriented setting.
