About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Infection Prevention and Control Professional to join our team at St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton.

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting surveillance for significant organisms, interpreting diagnostic tests and data to identify risks and trends, educating staff, physicians, patients, and families in Infection Prevention and Control Practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct surveillance for significant organisms and interpret diagnostic tests and data to identify risks and trends.
  • Educate staff, physicians, patients, and families in Infection Prevention and Control Practices.
  • Prepare and interpret outcome and process indicator data for programs and departments.
  • Identify, monitor and analyze outbreaks and prepare reports on possible causes and interventions.
  • Support other Infection Prevention and Control activities as required.

Requirements:

  • Completion of a recognized basic education course in Infection Prevention and Control.
  • Minimum of two years experience in Infection Prevention and Control.
  • Certificate in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) by the Certification Board of Infection Control.
  • Registered Nurse (baccalaureate in nursing preferred) with current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario with minimum 3 years clinical experience.
