Community Mental Health Worker

The Community Mental Health Worker provides psychosocial assessment, consultation, and evidence-informed counseling intervention and psychosocial rehabilitation to individuals referred to the mental health program for mental health-related problems. This position provides a welcoming point of entry for clients and referral sources and promotes therapeutic relationships through the service engagement process.
Key Responsibilities- Provide psychosocial assessment, consultation, and evidence-informed counseling intervention and psychosocial rehabilitation to individuals referred to the mental health program.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that address the client's mental health needs and goals.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to clients.
- Provide education and support to clients and their families on mental health issues and treatment options.
- Participate in ongoing education and training to maintain competency and stay current with best practices in mental health care.
- Graduate of an accredited post-secondary education in Health-Related Social Sciences (e.g. BSW, BScMH, BScPN, BN, RPN).
- Active license and registration to practice as required by professional association and provincial legislation.
- Certificate in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills (ASIST).
- Knowledge and understanding of all aspects of mental health service.
- Advanced mental health psychosocial assessment skills and knowledge of appropriate evidence-informed therapeutic counseling models, approaches, and interventions.
The Community Mental Health Worker works in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and must be able to work effectively in a team setting. The position requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work with diverse populations and maintain confidentiality.
