EHN Canada, a leading network of mental health treatment facilities, is seeking an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse to join its interdisciplinary team.

Job Summary:

We are committed to providing quality treatment for Canadians and supporting their loved ones. As a key member of our team, the successful candidate will provide comprehensive assessments and treatment management for clients with mental health and addiction-related issues.

About the Role:
  • Deliver client care according to the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta Standards of Nursing Practice
  • Provide ongoing client care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning implementation and evaluation
  • Formulate and implement client care plans
  • Safely implement physician's orders
  • Administer medications to clients
  • Maintain current progress records on clients according to legal and ethical standards
  • Orientate, facilitate and reinforce client's involvement in addiction treatment
  • Decide and initiate on course of action in case of medical emergencies
  • Provide supportive counselling to clients, families and/or significant others on typical recovery issues
  • Maintain a therapeutic environment on the unit conducive to the client learning productive patterns of living
  • Providing ongoing health teaching to clients in relation to common health problems and the clients maintaining a healthy lifestyle
  • Co-ordinate individual client appointments and referrals
  • Actively participate with team members in the assessment, planning and evaluation of the client and his care
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A graduate degree from an accredited school of Licensed Practical Nurses with pharmacological training
  • Licensed Practical Nurse registration in the Province of Alberta
  • Current basic CPR certification
  • Recent clinical experience, including medication administration and leadership duties
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular and consistent basis
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Good problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Demonstrated use of proper body mechanics and ability to perform heavy lifting
  • Knowledge of / experience with a team-based person-centered care approach
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of the interdisciplinary team
