Job Overview: Brandt is currently seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Technician to join our team in Chetwynd, reporting to the Fort St. John branch.

About the Role: As a Heavy Equipment Technician, you will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of construction and forestry-based equipment and attachments.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate the working condition of heavy-duty equipment, diagnose issues, assemble/disassemble, order parts, and perform repairs efficiently and effectively.
  • Use secondary materials and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Utilize related instruments, hand tools, power tools, secondary equipment, and computer systems.
  • Accurately document work orders with machine information, actions taken, and time spent on tasks.
  • Continuously assess service task hazards and ensure work is performed safely and meets accepted standards.
  • Use computer applications, such as John Deere Service Advisor, to document maintenance, inspection, and diagnosis.
  • Locate parts using catalogs and order them from parts personnel.
  • Road test equipment and inspect attachment operation as required.

Requirements:

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills to interact with customers, the service team, and branch personnel.
  • Must meet physical demands of the role, including climbing, overhead lifting, prolonged standing, sensory processing, and fine motor control.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in a heavy equipment environment is preferred.
  • Certified Journeyperson in Heavy Duty Equipment technician trade or equivalent designated trade.
  • Commitment to customer service and service excellence.
  • Able to communicate and work effectively with customers, the service team, and branch personnel.
  • Meet physical demands of the role.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Estimated Salary: $65,000 - $80,000 per annum, depending on experience.
