About the Teaching and Learning Centre of InnovationThe Teaching and Learning Centre of Innovation (TLCI) at Olds College of Agriculture and Technology serves students, faculty and staff in various areas, including Accessibility Services and Student Academic Support, Learning Commons, Educational Development, Moodle and Google training and support, The Studio video production services, and the MakerSpace.
The Opportunity - Contract Tutor, CommunicationsA contract opportunity is available to tutor Olds College students in the Learning Commons (library) during the 2024/2025 academic year. Hours vary according to student needs. Applicants must be prepared to work flexible hours, which may include days and/or evenings.
The tutor(s) will facilitate student learning in Communications in both one-on-one and small group settings. A familiarity with English grammar, syntax, academic and business writing is essential. Preference will be given to those individuals who are familiar with strategies in supporting English language learners, as well as the ability to support students in cover letter and resume writing. Responsibilities also include data recording/reporting as assigned. Tutor/s will report to the Manager, Student Experience and Educational Design, but may be required to communicate and collaborate with instructors as needed.
The ideal candidate possesses a Baccalaureate or Diploma in a related discipline and tutoring/teaching experience at the post-secondary level. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. The ideal candidate possesses strong interpersonal skills, as well as time management skills and a willingness to learn and grow professionally. The candidate must be an effective communicator comfortable working with diverse populations. The appropriate technology and connectivity to videoconference is a requirement for virtual tutoring. Successful candidates will be proficient in both MS Office and the Google suite of apps. Familiarity with our Learning Management System (Moodle) is preferred.
Applicants should indicate their willingness and ability to tutor online, in person, or both.
