About the Teaching and Learning Centre of InnovationThe Teaching and Learning Centre of Innovation (TLCI) at Olds College of Agriculture and Technology supports students, faculty, and staff in various areas, including Accessibility Services and Student Academic Support, Learning Commons, Educational Development, Moodle and Google training, The Studio video production services, and the MakerSpace.
The Opportunity - Contract Tutor, Math GeneralistA contract opportunity is available for a tutor to support Olds College students in the Learning Commons (library) during the 2024/2025 academic year. The tutor will facilitate student learning in one-on-one and small group settings, with a focus on Statistics and Applied Math. The ideal candidate will possess a Baccalaureate or Diploma in a related discipline and tutoring/teaching experience. Strong interpersonal skills, time management skills, and a willingness to learn and grow professionally are essential. The candidate must be an effective communicator, comfortable working with diverse populations, and proficient in MS Office and the Google suite of apps. The ability to tutor online, in-person on campus, or both is required.
Responsibilities- Facilitate student learning in one-on-one and small group settings
- Preference will be given to those individuals with a strong background in Statistics and Applied Math
- Data recording/reporting as assigned
- Report to the Manager, Student Experience and Educational Design, and communicate with instructors as needed
- Baccalaureate or Diploma in a related discipline
- Tutoring/teaching experience
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Time management skills
- Willingness to learn and grow professionally
- Effective communication skills
- Comfortable working with diverse populations
- Proficient in MS Office and the Google suite of apps
