About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Software Development Manager to lead a team that develops and globally operates a highly available, low-latency distributed system that powers real-time Layer7 DDoS detections using methods such as behavioral analysis and machine learning, and mitigations such as client-side challenges.

Key Responsibilities

- Model Amazon Leadership Principles around customers, operations, inclusion, and growth
- Lead and represent a software development team autonomously
- Lead with empathy, ensuring sustainable workloads and work-life balance
- Adapt management approach to individuals' needs, motivations, and talents
- Create and execute growth plans for engineers, including coaching and mentoring, and develop future leaders
- Establish team processes to solve complex problems, deliver impactful software, and run smooth operations for a globally available web service
- Create and communicate a compelling vision and motivations, fostering collaborative goal alignment
- Strive to build a self-sustaining team, providing guidance when needed, and develop mechanisms to stay connected with details
- Ensure appropriate visibility and recognition for engineers' work
- Own software architecture, product, or suite with significant business impact
- Make architectural, component, and prioritization decisions in partnership with stakeholders
- Influence organizational goals through team's roadmap and effective planning
- Define resourcing and roles to meet team objectives
- Understand owned products deeply to facilitate technical discussions
- Manage, communicate, and mitigate risks proactively and build consensus on complex technical and business issues

We own services that enable internal and external customers to safeguard their digital infrastructure and defend their online assets against technical and business risks posed by DDoS and bots, such as elevated infrastructure costs, fraudulent activities, and security threats.

- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

The base salary for this position ranges from $171,400/year up to $286,200/year. Salary is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
