The role of a Nursing Attendant at CapitalCare involves providing basic resident care tasks to meet resident care needs in accordance with centre policies, procedures, and nursing standards. This involves assisting residents in a manner that demonstrates respect for their dignity, privacy, independence, and individuality, in line with our organization's goals, values, and policies.

Responsibilities include assisting with food delivery, laundry, and performing light housekeeping duties such as making beds, disposing of linen, and maintaining the cleanliness and tidiness of nursing units. Additionally, you will support care, acceptance, and related maintenance of both full- and part-time pets. The Nursing Attendant also attends and participates in team meetings, assisting in defining educational needs, program processes, policy, and procedure development, problem-solving, and solution-finding. You will share educational material and information gathered at workshops and conferences, and perform other related duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications:

Registration with the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory is required. You must be able to read, write, and speak fluently in the English language. Two years of recent healthcare experience with the geriatric population and the chronically ill is preferred. Personal competencies include being knowledgeable of methods of transfer and capable of transferring and supporting residents of varying sizes and varying degrees of immobility. You must also be aware of accident and injury prevention, adhere to safe work practices and procedures, and be responsible for maintaining self-wellness and reduced absenteeism.

Salary Range:

$22.07 – $26.04 per hour, as per the AUPEAN Collective Agreement.
