GVA Lighting, Inc. creates outstanding lighting systems and signature lighting projects worldwide in cooperation with the best lighting designers and architects. Our engineering, design, and manufacturing take place in the Greater Toronto Area.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Troubleshooting malfunctioning systems and making recommendations for corrective action;
  • Resolving customer complaints and establishing corrective action plans;
  • Providing a positive impression of GVA Lighting and our product offering while communicating technical information accurately;
  • Gathering customer information and determining issues by evaluating and analyzing symptoms;
  • Instructing customers in the operation and maintenance of installed systems;
  • Programming on-site equipment such as power data devices, luminaires, and control systems;
  • Troubleshooting on-site equipment not functioning as per factory specifications and taking action to resolve issues or instructing on-site personnel;
  • Reading project-specific lighting layouts, 3D light renderings, electrical plans, and designs in preparation for site visits;
  • Understanding the design philosophy and construction of GVA LED lighting products;
  • Assisting the sales team in technical communication with architects, general contractors, electrical contractors, engineers, lighting designers, distributors, and GVA representatives agencies;
  • Providing feedback to product managers, engineering, quality teams, and manufacturing teams to develop, evaluate, and improve products and processes for the benefit of GVA and its customers;
  • Assisting with mock-ups, project commissioning, and contractor training;
  • Supporting additional capacities as required, such as system installations, training sessions, and satellite office support;
  • Documenting steps taken, pictures, timesheets, processes, and failure analysis reports;
  • Issuing return requests (Return Material Authorizations).
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • 2-5 years of experience in technical support;
  • High proficiency in spoken and written English communication;
  • Excellent independent problem-solving skills;
  • Strong aptitude for engineering;
  • High level of integrity and passion for lighting design;
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, electronic technology and engineering-based environment;
  • Proven ability to prioritize workflow, multitask, and be detail-oriented;
  • Ability to exercise good judgment, show initiative, and be proactive;
  • Ability to read architectural and electrical drawings, lighting layouts, and riser diagrams;
  • Strong PC skills including Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, and Adobe Photoshop;
  • Knowledge and experience using AutoCAD, firmware update tools, DMX timeline control programs, and PDF writers;
  • Knowledge of DMX control systems and its protocol standards;
  • Hands-on ability to solve on-site issues immediately, solving with creative and quick solutions.
