Procurement Specialist

At the City of Vancouver, we are seeking a skilled Procurement Specialist to join our Finance and Supply Chain Management team. This temporary full-time position will play a critical role in purchasing high-value, complex goods and services for various City departments and Boards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and analyze bid documentation to identify amendments and ensure compliance with City policies and government guidelines.
  • Collaborate with departments and suppliers to develop detailed specifications and effective request for proposal documentation.
  • Evaluate proposals based on various criteria, including price, quality, and vendor reputation.
  • Negotiate contracts and ensure that required insurance, licenses, and bonding are in place.
  • Prepare award recommendations and perform research and analysis of products and services.
Requirements:
  • Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by the SCMP Designation from the Supply Chain Management Association or a CPPB designation as awarded by the NIGP.
  • Considerable experience sourcing and purchasing goods and services in a municipal setting.
  • Thorough knowledge of purchasing principles, practices, and methods, as well as municipal policies and procedures.
