Job Summary

JS ROMANA LANDSCAPING is seeking a skilled Landscaping Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our grounds maintenance team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our landscaping crew, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities
  • Hire, Supervise and Schedule Staff: Lead and manage a team of 5-10 staff members, ensuring that they have the necessary skills and training to perform their duties effectively.
  • Plan and Direct Grounds Maintenance: Develop and implement plans for the maintenance of our grounds, including mowing, pruning, and weeding.
  • Plan and Estimate Labour and Materials: Estimate the time and materials required for each project, ensuring that we stay within budget and meet deadlines.
  • Organize and Direct Construction of Decks and Decorative or Retaining Walls: Oversee the construction of decks, walls, and other landscape features, ensuring that they are built to a high standard and meet our quality control standards.
  • Plan, Manage and Supervise Landscape Construction Work: Manage and supervise the construction of landscape features, including planting, mulching, and irrigation systems.
  • Maintain Work Records and Logs: Maintain accurate records of all work completed, including hours worked, materials used, and any issues that arose during the project.
  • Tender and Administer Contracts: Develop and administer contracts for all landscaping work, ensuring that we meet our obligations and that our clients are satisfied with the work completed.
  • Read Blueprints and Drawings: Read and interpret blueprints and drawings to ensure that all landscape features are built to the correct specifications.
  • Requisition or Order Materials, Equipment and Supplies: Order and requisition all necessary materials, equipment, and supplies to complete landscaping projects.
  • Resolve Work Problems, Provide Technical Advice and Recommend Measures to Improve Productivity and Product Quality: Identify and resolve any issues that arise during the project, providing technical advice and recommending measures to improve productivity and product quality.
  • Establish Work Schedules and Procedures: Develop and implement work schedules and procedures to ensure that all tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
Requirements
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years of experience in landscaping or a related field.
  • Work Site Environment: Outdoors.
  • Equipment and Machinery Experience: Chain saw, small engine equipment, sod cutter, tractor mower.
  • Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment, handling heavy loads, physically demanding, manual dexterity, combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, kneeling.
  • Personal Suitability: Client focus, excellent oral communication, initiative, judgement, team player.
