Job Overview

We are an established Canadian facility maintenance company, providing a variety of services to large retail and commercial businesses nationally. Our team is dedicated to delivering exceptional Janitorial Services, and we are seeking a highly skilled Retail Area Manager to lead our efforts.

This role offers a competitive compensation package, including health, dental, vision, and a pension plan after 1 year. You will be responsible for leading, managing, coordinating, and implementing the customer scope of work within a designated area to provide top-notch cleaning services.

About the Role

This Retail Area Manager position involves increasing revenue from existing customers and managing a mobile workforce. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Developing and Implementing Customer Plans: Participate in the creation and execution of plans for customers, including waxing schedules, budgets, and potential add-on sales opportunities.
  2. Building Strong Relationships: Foster strong relationships with customers and subcontractors, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration.
  3. Training and Development: Responsible for training subcontractors and employees on required legislated training (WHMIS, Health & Safety, etc.) and United cleaning specific training.
  4. Process Improvement: Lead all process initiatives and work with senior management to identify trends and process gaps, driving continuous improvement.
  5. Budget Analysis and Cost Control: Analyze and control store budgets, monitor expenses for operations, and develop strategies to decrease costs and increase profitability at the store level.
  6. Transition Management: Implement transitions of new business in customer locations in compliance with the transition process.
  7. Hiring, Recruitment, Training, and Performance Management: Support in hiring, recruitment, training, performance management, and termination of subcontractors.
  8. Health and Safety Compliance: Work in compliance with Health & Safety policies and legislation.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you must be available to address customer and subcontractor needs and concerns in a timely manner. Additionally, you should be able to work flexible shifts on a rotation basis, including evenings and nights, and possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record.

Skills and Qualifications

This Retail Area Manager position requires:

  1. Business Acumen and Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, active listening skills, time management, leadership skills, autonomy, and competence with technology.
  2. Janitorial Operations Management: Managing budgeting and costing within janitorial operational environments, knowledge of floor-care and cleaning procedures is an asset.
  3. Motivating a Mobile Team: Ability to motivate a mobile team of subcontractors.
  4. Education and Experience: A degree in business administration or a related field is preferred.

We offer a salary range of $65,000 - $85,000 per year, based on experience.
