Key Responsibilities:

* Schedule materials, tools, and personnel to ensure efficient project completion
* Liaise with management, engineers, and other trades to coordinate project activities
* Prepare tenders and quotations for clients
* Instruct apprentices in the installation and maintenance of sprinkler systems
* Connect piping systems to water mains, supply tanks, pumps, compressors, and control equipment
* Install clamps, brackets, and hangers to support piping systems and sprinkler and fire protection equipment
* Install valves, alarms, and associated equipment
* Join pipes and piping sections using soldering and welding equipment
* Service and repair sprinkler systems
* Supervise other workers
* Test systems for leaks using air or liquid pressure equipment
* Clean and maintain pipe units and fittings and flush systems
* Cut openings for pipes in walls, floors, and ceilings using hand or power tools or machines
* Install supports, valves, piping, and control systems
* Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipes to required shape and size
* Remove and replace worn components and reactivate systems
* Select type and size of pipe required
* Test systems for leaks using testing equipment
* Weld, braze, cement, solder, and thread joints to join pipes and fabricate sections of piping systems
* Estimate costs and materials
* Operate CADD and other computer software systems
* Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings, and specifications
