Job Summary

This Manufacturing Engineer (ME) role sits within our Digital & Technology value stream as part of supporting Manufacturing Engineering team. The Measurement Specialist (MS) is a technical authority for measurement and calibration, providing specialist level support on measurement solutions for Maintenance Repair & Overhaul (MRO) business and liaising globally with the Measurement Function. The role is a custodian of the Rolls-Royce measurement standards for the business and is formally delegated to approve training, processes, procedures, and documents relating to measurement and calibration as defined in Rolls-Royce procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement measurement/ inspection solutions and provide guidance to business operations on measurement systems.
  • Identify and develop opportunities for new or improved measurement processes, measurement systems, and digital technologies to meet current or future requirements.
  • Ensure application of manufacturing & inspection process controls within the business with appropriate delegation from Rolls Royce Community of Practice for Measurements.
  • Ensure that the measurement systems (CMM, GOM, Tomography, Eddy current systems etc.) and software used (Calypso, PiWeb, PolyWorks etc.) are compliant and optimized to their highest performance.
  • Provide guidance & support to Rolls Royce Canada Metrology department.
  • Support Manufacturing Engineering community with guidance on measurement practices & solutions, including guidance on GD&T.
  • Maintain the documentation on measurement systems & procedures, and provide troubleshooting support to operations, as needed.
  • Ensure that manufacturing processes can achieve and sustain the design intent, and that processes are followed so that our products and those of our suppliers conform to their specification. Rigorously raise, investigate, and resolve safety related issues.
  • Ensure compliance to all relevant company, legislative and technical policies, and standards including RRMS, SABRe and Export Control and Intellectual Property requirements.
  • Drive manufacturing processes with best practice while working with the Digital Manufacturing Leadership and Manufacturing Process Owners.
  • Work with interfacing teams and local experts to ensure technical aspects of manufacturing processes and measurement systems are understood and accounted for, as required. Identify, document, and share best practice by participating in relevant Communities of Practice.
  • Develop & maintain beneficial relationships with partners and suppliers to ensure objective delivery.
  • Train other engineers and technicians in a continuous improvement environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 5+ years experience in measurement specialization OR
  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering and 2+ years experience in measurement specialization
  • Experience with the process & tools for implementing Statistical Process Control (SPC) & Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA)
  • Experience in conducting Gage R&R.
  • Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada
  • Member of the OIQ or eligible
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and French.
  • Experience & demonstrated interest in Digital Manufacturing (industry 4.0)
