About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Drywall Taper to join our team at NBS Steel Framing & Drywall Ltd. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality drywall installation and finishing work on our projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply successive coats of compound and sand seams and joints to achieve a smooth and even finish.
  • Apply, level and smooth coats of plaster to create a durable and long-lasting surface.
  • Clean and prepare surfaces to ensure a strong bond between the drywall and the surrounding area.
  • Cure freshly plastered surfaces to prevent damage and ensure a smooth finish.
  • Cut and install metal corner beads to protect exterior corners and prevent damage.
  • Fabricate and install suspended metal ceiling grids and place in panels to form acoustical and coffered ceilings.
  • Fill joints, nail indentations, holes and cracks with joint compound using a trowel and broad knife.
  • Finish corners and angles and create decorative designs in the finish coat, if required.
  • Measure, cut, fit and install drywall sheets to ensure a precise and secure fit.
  • Mix plaster ingredients to the desired consistency to achieve a strong and durable bond.
  • Mould and install ornamental plaster panels, cornices and trim to add a decorative touch to our projects.
  • Position and secure sheets to metal or wooden studs or joists to ensure a stable and secure installation.
  • Smooth out excess compound and allow the coat to dry to prevent damage and ensure a smooth finish.
  • Spray acoustic or texture materials over walls and ceilings to create a unique and attractive finish.
  • Tape over joints using a taping machine and embed tape in compound to ensure a strong and durable bond.
  • Trowel or spray coats of stucco over exteriors of buildings to form weatherproof surfaces.
  • Cut openings in lath for heating and ventilation piping, ducts and electrical outlets.
  • Install acoustic tile, hangers for suspended ceilings and metal studs for composition wallboard or lath.
  • Install exterior and interior steel studs to create a strong and durable framework.
  • Install metal stud framing and furring for interior drywall or plaster walls and ceilings, using hand and power tools.
  • Work at heights, on scaffolding or swing stages to ensure a safe and efficient installation process.
  • Erect and install scaffolding, falsework and other working platforms to facilitate safe and efficient access to our projects.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications to ensure a precise and accurate installation process.
Requirements
  • 2 years to less than 3 years of experience in drywall installation and finishing.
  • Permanent employment with a reputable company.
  • English as the primary language of communication.
  • 40 hours per week of work, with a focus on quality and efficiency.
