Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Technologist to join our team at CSA Group. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing technical evaluations of non-certified equipment within your area of expertise.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough technical evaluations of products to ensure they meet technical requirements and are free of potential fire and shock hazards.
  • Communicate with clients in a professional manner to schedule inspection appointments, review costing procedures, and provide technical information and direction.
  • Document technical reports for required alterations to sub-standard equipment and review details of corrective action with clients.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Lab, and colleagues on technical and procedural issues, including research on standards and SI Guidelines.
  • Provide training to less experienced Special Inspection Representatives by explaining CSA requirements and providing information and guidance.
  • Participate in the SI Technical Committee and contribute to the development of departmental Technotes.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related Sciences with 6 years industry-related experience; or Engineering Technology or Associates Degree with 8 years industry-related experience; or Journeyman Electrician with 6 years industry-related experience; or related technical field with 10+ years industry-related experience.
  • Certification/Lab Testing experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of laboratory instrumentation and general laboratory procedures.

Skills:

  • Ability to manage multiple inspection files and changing schedules and deadlines with supervision.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and test data as required to complete assigned duties.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, self-starter, good decision-making skills, and organizational skills.
  • Strong conflict resolution skills to handle difficult situations.
  • Computer skills (word processing, e-mail).
  • Usage of calibrated measurement instruments, high voltage test equipment, and hand tools.
