Job Summary

Fraser Health Authority is seeking a skilled and compassionate Day Program Recreation Worker to join our team at Ridge Meadows Hospital in Maple Ridge, BC. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality care and services to our clients.

Responsibilities

- Develop and implement a variety of social and recreational activities for assigned clients, including mental aerobics, music, cooking, and special events.
- Stimulate clients' interests through discussion groups, speakers, and magazines, and teach new skills of daily living, including safety in the home.
- Report activities of daily living (ADL) to the Nurse, observe clients during activities, and communicate concerns and/or client difficulties to the Nurse.
- Assist clients with ADLs such as bathing, dressing, hygiene, eating, toileting, and ambulation, and demonstrate the appropriate use of equipment such as mechanical lifts, wheelchairs, and walkers.
- Participate in weekly interdisciplinary team meetings, provide input into client activities, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives and in-services.

Qualifications

- Grade 12, plus graduation from a recognized Health Care Assistant program, completion of recognized recreation courses, and one (1) year recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Current Food Safe I certificate.
