Pediatric Critical Care Nurse Practitioner

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nurse Practitioner to join our Pediatric Critical Care team at IWK Health. As a Nurse Practitioner in Pediatric Critical Care, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality, patient-centered care to critically ill children and their families.
Reporting to the Manager of Pediatric Critical Care, you will function in an advanced practice role, utilizing your expertise to conduct comprehensive assessments, diagnose, and manage the clinical care of children requiring critical care. You will work collaboratively with other health professionals to provide safe, competent, and ethical nursing and inter-professional care.
The successful candidate will have a Master's Degree in Nursing with Clinical Nurse Practitioner Certification, current licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in Nova Scotia, and a minimum of 5 years of experience in Pediatric nursing, with 3 of those years in Pediatric Critical Care. You will also have demonstrated clinical competence and experience in pediatric critical care nursing, as well as strong leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive assessments, diagnose, and manage the clinical care of children requiring critical care
- Function within an approved scope of practice
- Develop, promote, and maintain an interdisciplinary collaboration in a multi-disciplinary team environment
- Work in partnership with nurses and other disciplines to provide holistic patient/family-centered care and advance the practice of pediatric critical care nursing
- Participate in planning and implementing change related to clinical, educational, and research issues
- Participate in policy and procedure development related to pediatric critical care
- Provide leadership and modeling of behavior related to nursing practice issues, through the role components of clinician, educator, consultant, and researcher
- Promote communication among nursing and other health disciplines in the care of the patient and family in the IWK Health Centre and in the community
- Dedication to continuing learning for self and team
- Specialized Pediatric Outreach Team member
- Cardiac Arrest Team member
- PICU specific: Focusing on 24/7 PICU coverage by an NP/CA
- Master's Degree in Nursing with Clinical Nurse Practitioner Certification
- Current licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in Nova Scotia
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Pediatric nursing, with 3 of those years in Pediatric Critical Care
- Demonstrated clinical competence and experience in pediatric critical care nursing
- Strong leadership and communication skills
