The Electronics Engineer - PLC and Hardware Specialist will provide support to the Electrical, Electronics, and Connected Systems Department at Addie Staffing (Addy Global Solutions) in Mississauga, ON. This role requires collaboration with Department Managers and EEC Team Members to ensure seamless development, validation, verification, and transition of new designs from concept to production environment.
Main Responsibilities- Provide regular updates to supervisors on development status and challenges.
- Develop electrical and wiring diagrams for panel and system builds.
- Create and integrate PLC-based designs and control panels.
- Make informed decisions regarding component selection to meet stringent performance and cost targets.
- Test and evaluate existing designs to identify opportunities for improvement and implement enhancements in both current and future projects.
- Verify and validate designs to meet project requirements and timeline.
- Generate and present reports in various formats, including emails, technical reports, and design presentations.
- Develop production-quality documents and procedures to ensure quality and consistency.
- Collaborate with internal and external suppliers to support the development process.
- Assist with internal queries on existing equipment and programming standards.
- Create and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs), wiring diagrams, assembly, and test instructions.
- Participate in design reviews, ensure product compliance and safety.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or related field from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of 2-4 years of experience working in the electronics industry.
- Ability to support testing of own design with basic software and firmware when needed.
- Experience with Siemens S7 series is preferred.
- Experience with industrial communication protocols (RS485, CAN/LIN, Ethernet/IP).
- Experience with AC drives and controls.
- Skill in using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and debuggers.
- Experience working with certification organizations such as CSA and UL.
- Knowledge of UL508 and UL508A.
- Proficiency with business tools such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and ERP tools (e.g., Visual).
