Job Title: Executive Chef at City of Cornwall
Position Summary:
As a key member of the City of Cornwall's culinary team, the Executive Chef will report to the Director of Food Services or designate. Responsibilities will include menu planning, food ordering, preparation, production, and food service programs, ensuring all work areas are cleaned and sanitized according to established safety practices and health regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement menus that meet the dietary needs of the City of Cornwall's residents and visitors.
- Oversee food preparation, production, and presentation to ensure high-quality dishes are served.
- Manage food inventory, ordering, and storage to minimize waste and optimize resources.
- Supervise and train culinary staff to maintain a safe and efficient kitchen environment.
- Collaborate with the Director of Food Services to develop and implement food safety and sanitation protocols.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including proper food handling and storage procedures.
- Develop and manage budgets for food, supplies, and equipment to ensure efficient use of resources.
- Participate in menu planning and budgeting to ensure alignment with the City of Cornwall's culinary goals and objectives.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Graduate of a formal accredited culinary arts program or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a senior culinary role, preferably in a municipal or institutional setting.
- Proven track record of menu planning, food preparation, and kitchen management.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and train staff.
- Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation protocols, with the ability to develop and implement effective procedures.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on quality and customer satisfaction.
- Valid Food Handler's Certificate and up-to-date COVID-19 vaccinations.
